MTH-1150 - Precalculus Algebra and Trigonometry* (M) (4) Prerequisite: Appropriate score on the Math Placement Test or permission of the chair This course prepares students for calculus and includes real and complex numbers, relations, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, circular, and trigonometric functions, vectors and analytic geometry. Graphical interpretations are emphasized throughout the course. This course satisfies the General Education Mathematics requirement.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Classify functions and identify characteristics such as the form of the equation, domain, intercepts, zeros and asymptotes in order to graph them and to solve equations.
CO2 - Graph, both manually and with a graphing calculator, a variety of functions in order to analyze the graphs and identify characteristics such as domain and range.
CO3 - Solve algebraic, logarithmic, exponential, trigonometric and systems of equations in order to obtain solutions both algebraically and graphically.
CO4 - Analyze angles and trigonometric functions using the unit circle and right triangles in order to evaluate, graph and solve trigonometric ratios and functions.
CO5 - Apply fundamental trigonometric identities in order to solve trigonometric equations.
CO6 - Classify vectors in the plane by their properties in order to evaluate, graph and solve vector problems.
