BAD-2140 - Introduction to Business Strategy* (3)

Prerequisite:  Reading and Writing Placement; or ENG-0900 and RDG-0800; or take one of the following:  IRW 0900A  , IRW 0900B  , or IRW 0900C  and BAD-1015  
Students are introduced to a common body of knowledge and develop competencies in strategic planning/management, and the management (design and implementation) of organization change initiatives, as typically employed in a variety of business settings in support of strategy implementation. Students will develop a sound foundation and basic skills in diagnosing organizational problems, formulating and selecting strategic alternatives, and recognizing problems inherent in strategy implementation meant to enhance organizational performance. The course emphasizes critical thinking by applying frameworks to analyze, evaluate, and practice organizational decision-making.

CO1 - Discuss fundamental principles of strategic planning/management.

CO2 - Discuss fundamental principles of designing/implementing organizational change initiatives.

CO3 - Examine practical ways to define customers’ needs in order to establish an organization’s direction.

CO4 - Discuss how to develop a Mission and Vision statement that reflect customers’ needs.

CO5 - Identify strategies and methods for collecting and analyzing data required to define customers’ needs.

CO6 - Examine practical applications of strategic planning.

CO7 - Interpret and discuss real life strategic planning and organizational change scenarios.
