HTH-1600 - Responding to Emergencies (2) Prerequisite: IDS 1010T or RDG 0800
This course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to selected medical emergencies and provide basic life support until more advanced measures can be initiated. Topics include the emergency medical service (EMS) system; the rescuer role; cardiovascular disease risk factors; cardiac and respiratory emergencies in adults, children, and infants; shock; soft tissue and musculoskeletal injuries; poisoning; thermal injuries; and basic evacuation techniques.
