CJS-1015 - Introduction to Criminal Justice (3)


Students are introduced to the agencies that compose the criminal justice system - police, courts, corrections. Identification and operations of local, state, and federal agencies are covered as are career opportunities in the criminal justice field.

List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections)
CO1 - Demonstrate an understanding of the origins of criminal behavior, society’s response to crime, and the consequences of crime to our society, utilizing multiple perspectives.

CO2 - Explain the ethical implications of their decisions.

CO3 - Demonstrate self awareness to understand the influence of personal biases and values when interacting with diverse groups.

CO4 - Apply theoretical frameworks to understanding the causes and prevention of crime, the processes of criminalization, and crime enforcement.

CO5 - Understand the dynamics, causes, and treatment programs available for different populations.
