HST-1034 - History of Women in America* (H, C) (3)

Prerequisite: Reading Placement or RDG-0800 or take one of the following: IRW-0900A IRW-0900B IRW-0900C

Students examine how changing social, legal, and economic factors ahve affected women in America. In developing perspectives on the role of women in American history since 1600, students study issues of race, class, and region. Students who have completed HST-2020 cannot receive cdit for HST-1034.

CO4 - Analyze the evolution of the legal status of women in the United States.

CO5 - Identify movements and individuals who have contributed to changing women’s status in American history.

CO6 - Describe the diversity and commonality of the experiences of American women across racial, class, ethnic, religious, and regional boundaries.

CO7 - Analyze contemporary issues of women’s equality and autonomy in the context of earlier constructions of women’s roles in American society.
