PSY-2030 - Child Psychology* (3)

Prerequisite: PSY-1010  
This course provides an overview of the psychological theories, research findings, and methodology relevant to the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development from infancy through adolescence. Topics include prenatal development, language development, relationship formation and family, intelligence, self and gender development, moral development, stress and coping, and other relevant topics.

CO1 - Distinguish among the major theoretical approaches of child development

CO2 - Describe the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional characteristics of children during the following stages of development: infancy, preschooler, middle childhood, and adolescence

CO3 - Differentiate between expected and exceptional patterns of development

CO4 - Describe how social, economic, and cultural factors affect developmental processes

CO5 - Evaluate current issues in child development using theories and research findings in child psychology
