MTH-1010 - Quantitative Literacy and Reasoning* (M) (3)

Prerequisite: MTH-0992  

 
This course develops student skills in interpreting, understanding and using quantitative information.  It teaches algebraic reasoning and modeling skills through a quantitative literacy lens and emphasizes critical thinking and statistical reasoning.  It also develops skills in reading and writing quantitative information.  This course is not designed for students who need College Algebra or higher or are pursuing a degree that requires higher level mathematics.  This course satisfies the General Education Mathematics requirement.

List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections)
CO1 - Define key terms in order to develop conceptual understanding for a given topic.

CO2 - Select the appropriate formula, algorithm, and/or procedure in a given problem.

CO3 - Perform a calculation in order to obtain the correct answer.

CO4 - Use data and/or results of analysis in order to make an appropriate recommendation.

CO5 - Analyze data, tables, graphs, and/or equations in order to recognize linear and exponential functions.

CO6 - Use linear, exponential, and logarithmic functions in order to model real-world problems.
