BIO-2040L - Principles of Genetics Lab* (S) (1) Co-requisite: BIO-2040
In this laboratory, students investigate classical Mendelian, population, and modern molecular genetics using laboratory experiments and simulations. Data acquisition, discussion of experimental results, and analysis of the data collected are an integral part of the laboratory. This course satisfies the General Education Biological Science requirement.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Employ crosses using Punnett squares and probability to reinforce classical Mendelian genetics concepts learned in lecture.
CO2 - Perform molecular genetics techniques and demonstrate their importance in biotechnology.
CO3 - Conduct a population genetics simulation to understand how the genetic composition of a population changes over time.
CO4 - Critique the degree of scientific validity in the reasoning applied to the collection and interpretation of data.
Course Fee: $60
