COM-2300 - Introduction to Media Writing* (3)

Prerequisite: ENG-1010  (Minimum grade of C) 
Students examine the techniques of news and feature writing for cross-platform media. They learn how to report, write, and edit stories suitable for print, broadcast and news media.

List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections)
CO1 - Describe the major media professions in the 21st-century media environment.

CO2 - Identify skills needed in the converged media environment.

CO3 - Employ strategies used by media professionals to write news and persuasive pieces.

CO4 - Utilize correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and mechanics in news and persuasive writing.

CO5 - Apply media writing conventions including Associated Press style, accuracy, brevity, and clarity.

CO6 - Explain the legal and ethical issues that impact the media industry.
