MUS-1300 - Keyboard Skills I (1) Co-requisite: MUS-1501
Students in MUS-1300 develop keyboard skills and applications of their studies in music theory and ear training. Topics include sight reading, transposition, improvisation, harmonization, scale fingerings, arpeggio fingerings, and simple score reading. It is recommended that students take this class while taking MUS-1501 and MUS-1501L.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Demonstrate music theory fundamentals and elements of musical language on the keyboard.
CO2 - Demonstrate sight reading of simple melodic and melodic/harmonic examples, chord progressions, lead sheet notation, and traditional notation.
CO3 - Demonstrate performance techniques such as correct fingering, hand/body position for all course elements.
CO4 - Demonstrate examples of improvisation, transposition of musical examples, and chord progressions.
