THE-1070 - Introduction to Theatrical Design (3) Prerequisite: THE-1020 This course is an introduction to the design of scenery, costumes, lights, and sound used in theater productions. Students participate in project-based learning focused on design development, drawing and rendering, and developing fluency in industry-standard software and apps. Students will learn the role of the designer within the scope of the total collaborative process of theater production.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Establish a basic vocabulary of theatrical design terms that will inform students’ understanding of theater practice and analysis.
CO2 - Examine the fundamentals of scenery, costume, and lighting design through hands-on projects, class discussion, and readings.
CO3 - Communicate design intentions with rendering and/or modeling in various media, including industry standard software and apps.
