This program is designed for part and full-time students with an academic and/or professional interest in English. Students who complete this program can complete their BA in English at the University of Maryland University College.

Student Learning Outcomes:

Students will

  1. Generate complex literary topics with a rhetorical purpose
  2. Apply the grammar and mechanics of standard written English with complex syntax and college-level diction
  3. Argue a reasonable position on a subject of literature or film
  4. Analyze and apply correctly documented credible sources and evidence
  5. Demonstrate an understanding of the essential role of the human experience in literature or film
