This certificate provides the necessary knowledge and skills to students entering the fitness and recreation fields by preparing them to become a nationally certified personal trainer or group fitness instructor. The certificate also provides the scope and vision of the field and introduces basic legal and risk management issues and introductory business skills and knowledge. The student can progress to other programs of study within the field that focus on developing management/business principles and lead to advancement in the field of sport management.
Individuals must possess a current CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification at the time this certificate is awarded.
The maximum number of credits accepted in transfer from other institutions to this program is 15.
