This program is offered through a partnership between the College of Southern Maryland, which provides the general education courses, and Electrical Local 26 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Joint Apprenticeship and Training Trust Fund (JATTF), which provides the technical courses. Courses in this program under the CNT electric wiring technician discipline are offered through IBEW. Individuals must be enrolled in or have previously completed the IBEW-Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee’s (JATC) five-year apprenticeship program and be working in the electrical industry to complete the program. Successful students are prepared for careers in the electrical trade and may choose to enter management positions.  Graduates will be prepared to repair, maintain, install, and service electrical distribution systems inside residential homes, commercial businesses, and industrial settings. Credits for the technical courses will be transferred into the college based upon the recommendations of the American Council of Education as published in the current edition of the National Guide to Education Credit for Training Programs under the electrical training ALLIANCE. All students are required to complete course and field requirements as outlined by the American Council of Education. In addition to the technical courses, students complete general education college courses designed to develop skills in writing, mathematics, critical thinking, computing, managing personnel, and communicating.

Students who choose this curriculum should recognize that the technical courses may not transfer to most four-year colleges.

The maximum number of credits accepted in transfer from other institutions to this program is 45.
