This major prepares students for transfer into the following programs: dental hygiene, nursing, pharmacy and physical therapy.  The pre-professional curriculum emphasizes science and liberal arts courses that are required for transfer into these professional schools at other institutions.  Students are advised to review the entrance requirements of the baccalaureate institutions from which they plan to obtain their allied health degree.

The maximum number of credits accepted in transfer from other instructions to this program is 45.

Student Learning Outcomes

Students will…

  1. Demonstrate and apply proficiency in the basic sciences including laboratory skills and knowledge of biology.
  2. Demonstrate and apply proficiency in the basic sciences including laboratory skills and knowledge of chemistry.
  3. Demonstrate use of a variety of different instruments and techniques to collect, organize, evaluate and present data.   

Pre-pharmacy students must complete a minimum of 65 transferrable credit for admissions to the University of Maryland at Baltimore program.  Students should complete PHY 1010/L and PHY 1020/L as part of the admissions requirement.
