The Emergency Medical Services - Intermediate to Paramedic Pathway provides an opportunity for students with an EMTI license to streamline completion of the paramedic certificate. Students are prepared to provide emergency pre-hospital medical care to those who have sustained potentially life-threatening illnesses and injuries. Completion of the paramedic program qualifies graduates to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (NREMT-P) examinations or comparable state examinations.
Instruction includes classroom, laboratory, and field training in a variety of pre-hospital settings. This program follows the National Education Standards developed by the United States Department of Transportation. Graduates are employed in settings associated with emergent patient care such as hospitals, emergency and urgent care centers, fire and rescue squads, ambulance service agencies, and similar organizations.
Students must hold current EMTI license for entry into this pathway. Students are required to provide proof of immunization status, a completed health form, a criminal backgroundd check, and a negative drug screen at the student’s expense. Students may be required to provide proof of current health insurance at their own cost upon notice.
This may be a competitive admissions program determined by student/instructor ratios and clinical space available. A major objective of practicum experience is to apply classroom theory to the work environment. A grade of “C” or better is required in all program courses.
