The Associate of Applied Science Nuclear Engineering Technology: Mechanical degree has both an instructional and an industrial focus. The instructional focus of the program will result in the accredited Associate of Applied Science degree integrating the education and training required for graduates to perform preventive, corrective and special maintenance on systems, components and structural facilities to ensure the reliability of a nuclear power plant.
Complementing the instructional focus, the industrial focus will be on electrical utilities and energy related-systems. Students and faculty will work with industry to demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot, inspect and rework a variety of valves, pumps and related equipment in a power plant.
This program will be using the Nuclear Uniform Curriculum Program (NUCP) as developed by the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) for use in the Nuclear Power Plant industry.
Students who complete the program with a grade point average of 3.0 or above and no grade lower than a B in the core courses will receive, in addition to the Associate degree diploma, a certificate of completion signed by Calvert Cliff Nuclear Power Plant and National Academy of Nuclear Training. This certificate is accepted at all Nuclear Power Plant in the United States and will signify the student’s completion of a NEI’s NUCP based curriculum of study.
