ITS-2250 - Data Communications* (3) Prerequisite: ITS 1015 ITS 1020
This first course in data communications and networking provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of data transmission, focusing on the lower layers of the OSI model. Broad overview of data transmission concepts such as signaling, encoding, modulation, and error detection are explored. Topics relating to network security including cryptography, message security, user authentication, and key management are introduced. For students who plan to use personal computers, this course may have specific computing requirements.
