BIO-2160 - Principles of Nutrition* (3) Prerequisite: ENG 1010 Basic principles of human nutrition as applied to the maintenance of health and disease prevention are studied. Topics include nutritional requirements at different developmental stages: digestion, absorption, storage, and metabolism of major nutrients; energy balance and caloric requirements; and hormonal influences on metabolism. Also covered are examples of nutrition-related dysfunctions. This course is intended for students with an interest in health services. Credit for this course may be earned through departmental examination.
