ITS-2591 - Computer Science I* (4) Prerequisite: ITS 1110 or ITS-1110 Departmental Exam; or Advanced Placement Exam score of 3 in Computer Science A or a score of 4 or 5 in Computer Science Principles. This first course in object oriented programming provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of object oriented program design (overloading, data abstraction, inheritance and polymorphism), debugging, and testing. The students learn the concepts of modular object oriented program and algorithm design via various projects throughout the semester. File processing, array manipulation, and elementary searching (sequential and binary) and sorting (selection, insertion, merge) algorithms are introduced. For students who plan to use personal computers, this course may have specific computing requirements.
