SPA-1020 - Elementary Spanish II* (H, C) (3) Prerequisite: SPA-1010 or two years of high school Spanish In this continuation of SPA-1010 , students briefly review elementary grammar and are introduced to and practice additional tenses of the indicative and subjunctive moods. Students write and present composition in Spanish and study the culture of various Hispanic communities. Spanish is spoken in the classroom. This course satisfies the General Education Humanities requirement and the Core Competency for Cultural and Global Awareness.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1- Write in Spanish with a novice-high level of fluency using high-elementary phrases and grammar structures and vocabulary.
CO2- Demonstrate novice-high fluency in reading and comprehension in Spanish.
CO3- Demonstrate novice-high accuracy in listening comprehension skills.
CO4- Demonstrate a novice-high pattern of speech with acceptable pronunciation.
CO5- Gain a general understanding and appreciation of the history, culture and traditions of Spanish speaking countries.
CO6- Identify and describe aspects of the Spanish Speaking culture covered in the course. Topics may include: geography, history, culture, customs, traditions, etc.
