MTH-1015 - Introduction to Statistics* (M) (3) Prerequisite: MTH-0994 Introduction to data analysis and elementary statistical methods. Topics include visual displays of data, descriptive statistics, sampling distributions, estimation, hypothesis testing, and regression. Emphasis is placed on applications, simulation, and use of software.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Recognize simple, compound, and complimentary events and assess their probability.
CO2 - Select the correct model and construct the regression line to describe a linear relationship between two quantities.
CO3 - Describe the center, variation, and outliers in a data set using the median, quartiles, mean, standard deviation, and z-score.
CO4 - Solve problems involving the normal distribution.
CO5 - Construct a confidence interval to estimate a population mean or proportion and interpret the results.
CO6 - Use the P-value to evaluate the results and make a conclusion in a statistical test of a hypothesis.
