NUR-1975 - Professional Nursing Practice: Transition to Registered Nursing* (4)

Prerequisite: NUR-1050  ; To be admitted to the Nursing Transition Pathway 
Co-requisite: NUR-1975L   - must be taken in the same semester

This course is intended for students with advanced standing, including LPNs and military medics, who qualify for and are admitted to the Associate Degree Nursing program. Students focus on the registered nurse’s scope of practice while exploring the metaparadigm of nursing, distinct concepts, and key competencies relevant to the profession. Students apply the nursing and clinical judgment processes to manage safe, patient-centered care to achieve health outcomes for the adult Person in a variety of settings of care. Interprofessional collaboration is reinforced as students explore the transition to the registered nursing professional roles and core values integrated in nursing practice. A grade of C is required to pass the course.

CO1 - Apply components of clinical reasoning to formulate clinical judgment decisions to deliver safe, patient-centered care.

CO2 - Apply principles of inter-professional collaboration to manage care for the adult Person with health needs in a variety of settings.

CO3 - Implement the nursing process to achieve patient health outcomes for the adult Person in a variety of settings.

CO4 - Demonstrate professional core values congruent with the practice of registered nursing.
