COM-1020 - Introduction to Mass Communication* (B) (3) Prerequisite: Reading and Writing Placement; or ENG-0900 and RDG-0800; or take one of the following: IRW-0900A ; IRW-0900B ; IRW-0900C This course focuses on the history and functions of the major print and electronic mass media. Students examine the ways in which consumers use media, the effects of those media on consumers, the ways in which audiences and media influence each other, and the relationship between media and society. This course satisfies the General Education Social/Behavioral Science requirement.
