ART-1065 - Art of the Italian Renaissance (A) (3)


Students will survey three centuries of art of Renaissance Italy. The course explores political and social structures that produced a rich tapestry of the art of the period. Students will study painting, sculpture and architecture. They will learn about artists, patrons and societies affected by an innovative philosophy. There is a required live or virtual field trip.  This course satisfies the General Education Arts requirement.

List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections)
CO1 - Assess stylistic characteristics of three centuries of art of Renaissance Italy.

CO2 - List terminology necessary to communicate in a scholarly appraisal of the works of art form the historical period.

CO3 - Evaluate the aesthetic goals of the artists. 

CO4 - Assess socio-historical context for the works of art.

CO5 - Interpret the purpose for which the art objects were used.

CO6 - Categorize stylistic traits that characterize the culture for which the art works were created.
