COM-1650 - Introduction to Public Speaking* (H) (3)

Prerequisite: College-level reading and writing placement or complete one of the following: IRW-0900A  or IRW-0900B 

 
This course introduces students to different forms of public speaking. Students complete informative, persuasive and special occasion speeches and an interview. This course will also explore how to deliver a speech with logical sequencing, confidence and enthusiasm.  This course satisfies the General Education Humanities requirement.

List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections)
CO1 - Deliver an informative, persuasive, and special occasion speech.

CO2 - Incorporate verbal, numerical, and visual support materials in a public speech.

CO3 - Write coherent speech outlines that demonstrate the ability to use organizational formats with a clear, specific purpose.

CO4 - Conduct effective research and incorporate sound reasoning and evidence to support claims in outlines and speeches.
