ELT-1030 - Semiconductors* (3)

Co-requisite:  ELT-1020  or permission of the chair

Students learn basic semiconductor theory and the characteristics of diodes, bipolar and FET transistors, thyristors and elementary circuits relating to these devices. Laboratory work includes related practical experiments with semiconductors.

List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections)
CO1 - Determine wave shapes in circuits with PN diodes.

CO2 - Determine wave shapes in circuits with zeners and varactors.

CO3 - Describe the operation of the bipolar transistor as a switch and as an amplifier.

CO4 - Bias transistors to the correct level.

CO5 - Build diode and transistor circuits in the lab.

CO6 - Demonstrate expertise on the oscilloscope and other lab equipment.Course Fee: $60
