GEO-1010 - Physical Geology* (S) (3)

Prerequisite: College-level reading placement or complete one of the following: IRW-0900A  or IRW-0900B  
Students learn the principles of dynamic and structural geology. The course includes a general survey of the rocks and minerals composing the earth and the movement within it, the earth’s surface features, and the agents that form them, the solar system and earth’s place in it.  This course satisfies the General Education Physical Science requirement.

List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections)
CO1 - Understand the general organization and structure of the earth.

CO2 - Articulate the processes and impacts of plate tectonics as it impacts the planet over time and its impact on human activity.

CO3 - Differentiate between various types of rocks and minerals.

CO4 - Describe processes of mass wasting, soil development.

CO5 - Articulate the processes of the hydrologic cycle including groundwater and stream dynamics.

CO6 - Apply the processes of geology to land use and public policy issues.
