GRY-1100 - Introduction to Geography* (B) (3) Co-requisite: College-level reading placement or complete one of the following: IRW-0900A or IRW-0900B
Students are introduced to geography as a spatial science, studying the major subfields of spatial inquiry, such as urban, economic, environmental, cultural, and population geography. This course satisfies the General Education Social/Behavioral Science requirement.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Analyze the controls, distribution, and classification of world climates.
CO2 - Describe seasonal Earth-Sun relations and explain resulting physical phenomena on Earth’s surface.
CO3 - Describe the Theory of Plate Tectonics, provide scientific evidence in its support, and explain its correlation to the creation of landforms.
CO4 - Identify the concepts of global grid systems, Earth’s position in space and interpret maps.
