GRY-1020 - Introduction to Cultural Geography* (B, C) (3)


Co-requisite: College-level reading placement or complete one of the following: IRW-0900A  or IRW-0900B  

Students study the relationships between culture and geography, analyzing cultural landscapes and the spatial patterns of economic activities, language, race and ethnicity, religion, and politics.  This course satisfies the General Education Social/Behavioral Science requirement and the Core Competency for Cultural and Global Awareness.

List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections)
CO1 - Differentiate the three main cultural identifiers, explain cultural diffusion and analyze the factors that influence its rate and extent

CO2 - Analyze the relationship between agriculture and urban patterns

CO3 - Describe the emergence of and examine the significance of Cultural Landscapes

CO4 - Break down the difference between ethnicity and race and describe how ethnicity and race shape cultural landscapes
