MTH-1150 - Precalculus Algebra and Trigonometry* (M) (4)

Prerequisite: MTH-1120 , Math Placement, or permission of the chair
This course prepares students for the study of calculus.  Topics include real and complex numbers, analytic geometry, relations, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, circular, and trigonometric functions. Graphical and analytical interpretations are emphasized throughout.  This course satisfies the General Education Mathematics requirement.

List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections)
CO1 - Classify functions and identify characteristics such as the form of the equation, domain, intercepts, zeros and asymptotes.

CO2 - Graph, both manually and with a graphing calculator, a variety of equations and functions.

CO3 - Solve algebraic, logarithmic, exponential, trigonometric and systems of equations in order to obtain solutions both algebraically and graphically.

CO4 - Analyze angles and trigonometric functions using the unit circle and right triangles in order to evaluate, graph and solve trigonometric equations.

CO5 - Apply fundamental trigonometric identities in order to solve trigonometric equations.

CO6 -  Use trigonometric ratios to model and solve application problems.
