MTH-1210 - Calculus II* (M) (4) Prerequisite: MTH-1200 This continuation of MTH-1200 includes integral applications such as volumes of solids, arc length, moments and centers of mass, areas of surfaces of revolution, work done by a variable force, fluid pressures and forces. Also introduced are transcendental functions, techniques of integration including numerical integration and improper integrals, sequences and series and their applications in differential and integral calculus, conic sections and polar coordinates. This course satisfies the General Education Mathematics requirement.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Apply integral calculus in order to solve problems of volumes of solids of revolution, mass, work done by a variable force, fluid forces, arc length and surface area.
CO2 - Apply the methods of basic formulas, integration by parts, partial fraction decomposition, trigonometric substitution, trigonometric integrals, tables and numerical integration in order to integrate a variety of functions.
CO3 - Write sequences given the formula for the nth term and determine the nth term of a sequence in order to analyze sequences.
CO4 - Apply the integral test, comparison test, ratio test, root and alternating series test in order to determine the convergence or divergence of an infinite series.
CO5 - Use equations and graphs in order to classify and analyze various conic sections including parabolas, ellipses and hyperbolas.
CO6 - Convert between polar, Cartesian and parametric coordinates and equations and apply the concepts of calculus in order to find derivatives, rates of change and areas.
