PSY-2680 - Human Sexuality* (3)

Prerequisite: PSY-1010  
The focus of this course is to prepare students who have an introductory background in psychology with a holistic, bio-psycho-social understanding of human sexuality. Topics include sexual anatomy and response, sexual health, sexual disorders, sexuality and disabilities, sexuality education, sexuality throughout the life cycle, sexual diversity, sex and the self, gender and sexuality, sexual coercion, sex and the law, sex communication, and the current social contexts of sexuality. The course provides current, in-depth research and perspectives on sexual attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors.

CO1 - Explain the basic perspectives, concepts, and principles in the field of human sexuality 

CO2 - Discuss the nature, development, and function of human sexuality throughout the lifespan

CO3 - Identify areas of social and cultural conflict related to sexuality 

CO4 - Describe the role biological, social, and cultural factors play in the understanding and expression of human sexuality 

CO5 - Describe disorders and treatment of human sexual issues with regard to ethical and legal standards

CO6 - Apply basic perspectives, concepts, and principles in order to evaluate social, medical, moral, and ethical issues of sexuality
