SOC-2010 - Technology and Society* (B) (3) Co-requisite: College-level reading placement or complete one of the following: IRW-0900A or IRW-0900B
This interdisciplinary course examines how modern technology has challenged ways of thinking in modern America about health, business and industry/agriculture, travel and communications, politics, philosophy/religion, and law. Basic language skills are presumed, used and evaluated. This course satisfies the General Education Social/Behavioral Science requirement.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Identify the major technological changes in human history and describe their social implications.
CO2 - Explain how technology is designed, adopted, and diffused throughout society.
CO3 - Apply a sociological perspective to the ways in which society shapes technology and technology shapes society, including culture, gender, social relationships, and social institutions.
CO4 - Examine the ways in which technology supports and challenges social inequality, both in the United States and globally.
