SOC-2110 - Sociology of Families* (3) Prerequisite: SOC-1010 or SOC-1040 The scientific method is used to study the theories and functions of marriage and the family in modern society. Topics include sex roles, selecting a mate, sexual mores, the marriage contract, family life styles, communication and conflict, parents and children, membership in the community, and divorce.

CO2 - Compare and Contrast the socio-historical development of the family and present day to include the changing roles of women, men, and children.
CO3 - Explain the complexity of family life and how family experience is shaped by race, ethnicity, social class, gender, and sexual preference.
CO4 - Evaluate sociological relevant problems and issues within the contemporary family.
CO5 - Evaluate issues of family conflict, divorce, and remarriage.
CO6 - Summarize issues of mate selection, mores, marriage contract, parents and children, and blended families.
