SPA-1010 - Elementary Spanish I (H, C) (3) Elementary Spanish I is a beginning course that provides a foundation for the Spanish language and cultural competence. This course is designed to develop a Spanish language proficiency in speaking, writing, reading, and listening at the novice level according to the ACTFL. No previous Spanish is required. Familiarity with English grammar and parts of speech is recommended for all beginning foreign language students. This course satisfies the General Education Humanities requirement and the Core Competency for Cultural and Global Awareness.
Note: Heritage speakers and students with previous Spanish knowledge can earn credits for Spa classes by completing the CLEP examination. It is advisable that you talk to an instructor for correct placement.

CO2 - Identify key words and phrases from simple questions, statements and commands that are highly predictable and contextualized.
