WFS-1750 - Introduction to Sport Management* (3)


Co-requisite:

College-level reading placement or complete one of the following: IRW-0900A  or IRW-0900B 

 


This course is an examination and reflective study of the sports industry, theories of recreation and leisure and career choices in the field. Emphasis is placed on leadership, planning and policy development, program evaluation, legal and financial issues and public relations.

List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections)
CO1 - Identify the fundamental theories and develop a sound philosophy of management regarding the objectives of sport and exercise programs in order to benefit his/her industries. 

CO2 - Understand crucial problematic areas involved in the administration of exercise and sport programs. 

CO3 - Analyze case problems related to sport and exercise programs. 

CO4 - Develop specified task-oriented endeavors, including resume preparation and a career-based plan.   

CO5 - Compose a personal philosophy of management regarding sport and exercise programs. 

CO6 - Summarize the historical development of sports management. 

CO7 - Assess value of ideas to address administrative problems present in sport and exercise programs. 

CO8 - Prepare solutions to problems delivered in case studies.
