MLT-2020 - Clinical Practice II* (5) Prerequisite: MLT-2015 Co-requisite: MLT-2018 ; MLT-2018L
Students continue to work under the supervision of medical laboratory staff in a local hospital/clinic. This experience allows the student to apply knowledge learned in the classroom in simulated employment. A passing grade of “C” is required in this course.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Demonstrate safe and ethical medical practices while performing phlebotomy, specimen processing, and result reporting.
CO2 - Accurately present a patient’s clinical picture through the use of HIPAA compliant normal and abnormal laboratory results.
CO3 - Perform guided troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration, and quality control practices on various laboratory equipment.
CO4 - Evaluate patient laboratory results for common errors in quality assurance.
CO5 - Evaluate student preparedness for successful completion of the ASCP Board of Certification Exam.
