PHL-1010H - Honors Intro to Philosophy* (H) (3) Prerequisite: College-level reading placement or complete one of the following: IRW-0900A or IRW-0900B In Honors Introduction to Philosophy, students survey major philosophical traditions of the world and become acquainted with major philosophers from the time of Socrates to the present. A variety of philosophical questions are proposed and differing answers explored. The honors section is distinguished by analyzing how philosophy is represented in popular culture.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Explain ideas in the history of philosophy, from the ancient world to the present.
CO2 - Evaluate competing claims on particular philosophical issues, such as the nature of knowledge, reality, and morality.
CO3 - Describe differences in how global philosophical traditions approach philosophy.
