MED-2115 - Clinical I for Medical Assisting* (3)

Prerequisite: College-level reading and writing placement or complete one of the following: IRW-0900A  or IRW-0900B ; MTH-0910  or higher; MED-1500 MED-1550 ; HEA-1100 ; BIO 2170 BIO 2180  or higher
Co-requisite: MED-2000 MED-2015 MED-2075 ;  BIO-2010 BIO-2010L  

List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections)
CO1 - Discuss the relationship between the principles of asepsis and practice of sterile technique when establishing a sterile field. 

CO2 - Demonstrate handwashing, packaging techniques and donning and doffing PPE. 

CO3 - Identify basic surgical instruments by type, function, and name. 

CO4 - Describe the stages/phases of wound healing and the complications that can occur during the healing process. 

CO5 - Identify the various ways a wound or surgical incision is closed, the equipment used, and how the medical assistant aids in the procedure
