The Associate of Arts, Art program prepares students for transfer to a specific art concentration in either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program, or directly into the creativity-based economy. Through coursework in two and three-dimensional design, art history, drawing, and digital photography, students focus on foundation-level processes and critical thinking, problem solving, and professional practices. Students are encouraged to explore traditional studio media and/or digital media. Students will also study the history of art, with an emphasis on the ways in which art has reflected cultural values, social and historical changes, and visual manifestations of both.
The maximum number of credits accepted in transfer from other institutions to this program is 45.
Artist, graphic designer, commercial illustrator, commercial photographer, photojournalist, museum or gallery curator, art conservator, high school or college art faculty, and architectural conservationist.
