ART-1240 - Basic Oil/Acrylic Painting I* (3) Prerequisite: ART-1210 ; ART-1220 Students with some background instruction such as basic drawing or basic design are encouraged to develop their own painting techniques. Course topics include the chemical and physical nature of paint, the composition of pictures, visual theories, and studio discipline.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Apply the elements and principles of two-dimensional design, observational drawing techniques, and color theory.
CO2 - Describe and explain the materials and techniques of oil painting.
CO3 - Explain and illustrate value contrast, color contrast, color tendency, application, surface texture, and transition in the terms of two-dimensional artwork.
CO4 - Maintain safe and healthy studio practice.
