EDU-1030 - Activities in Early Childhood I* (3) Prerequisite: EDU-1012 and EDU-1013 Co-requisite: College-level reading placement or complete one of the following: IRW-0900A or IRW-0900B
Students explore the development of the holistic child through language, literacy, art, music, and indoor/outdoor play experiences. In this course, they plan developmentally appropriate activities in curriculum areas that stimulate cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development with young children, birth to age 8. Students enrolled in this course will be assessed based on their use of college-level reading, writing, and communication skills.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Plan and implement a creative art program that provides for the development of the holistic child.
CO2 - Apply components of high-quality children’s literature to demonstrate the interrelatedness of literature to all children’s learning areas.
CO3 - Evaluate the children’s development in the process of language, beginning reading, and writing.
CO4 - Design appropriate environments for indoor/outdoor play for young children.
CO5 - Generate planned lessons for art, music, dramatic play.
