EDU-1040 - Activities in Early Childhood II* (3) Prerequisite: EDU-1012 and EDU-1013 Co-requisite: College-level reading placement or complete one of the following: IRW-0900A or IRW-0900B
Students explore the development of the holistic child through math, science, technology, and social studies. In this course, they plan developmentally appropriate activities in curriculum areas that stimulate cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development with young children, birth to age 8. Students enrolled in this course will be assessed based on their use of college-level reading, writing, and communication skills.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Apply the different theories of development to demonstrate their relationship to science, math, social studies, and technology.
CO2 - Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities in order to teach children the basic concepts of math, social studies, science, and technology.
CO3 - Identify personal attitudes about people who are culturally and physically different from themselves and examine ways in which these attitudes affect their teaching.
CO4 - Apply concepts and investigative activities related to science.
CO5 - Design lesson plans that help children acquire the concept of number.
