EDU-1070 - Communication and the Preschool Child* (3)

Prerequisite: EDU-1012  , EDU-1013  , and ENG-1010  or ENG-1010T  

 
Students explore the human development of language and speech in children from birth to upper elementary school. This includes methods to listen, speak, engage, and motivate young learners. Students will focus on appropriate responses and supports for communication. Students enrolled in this course will be assessed based on their use of college-level reading, writing, and communication skills.

CO1 - Plan developmentally appropriate activities to encourage the development of speech and language for children.

CO2 - Demonstrate effective use of the language arts areas in providing a language rich environment in the classroom.

CO3 - Compare developmental errors of speech and language with speech and language disorders.

CO4 - Identify supports for parental understanding of children’s communication challenges.
