PTA-1040 - Physical Therapist Assistant II* (6) Prerequisite: PTA-1020 ; PTA-1060 ; BIO-2180 ; must be enrolled in the Physical Therapist Assistant program Co-requisite: PTA-1050 ; PSY-2050
Students are introduced to theory regarding the concepts of pain, peripheral vascular disease, and wound care. Included are theory and skill development in modalities and relaxation techniques with expected competency in specific units. The lecture portion of this course is offered through distance learning and the laboratory portion is held at Anne Arundel Community College. Travel to Anne Arundel Community College is the responsibility of the student.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1- Adhere to ethical and legal standards in the practice of limited physical therapy under the direction and supervision of the physical therapist.
CO2- Demonstrate ongoing competence in the delivery of selected interventions in a safe and effective manner, in real or simulated patient interactions, consistent with the standards of practice of the profession.
CO3 - Perform basic data collection and implement selected interventions, using previous learned skills within the program, in real or simulated interactions.
CO4 - Demonstrate proficiency with documentation according to standards of practice and level of learning.
CO5 - Demonstrate effective communication with a diverse patient population during simulated interactions, including patient education and treatment.
CO6 - Identify psychosocial needs of patients and families.
