In this course students study the theory of orthopedic conditions and their underlying pathologies. Skill development includes integrated rehabilitation techniques of these conditions. The lecture portion of this course is
offered through distance learning and the laboratory portion is held at Anne Arundel Community College. Travel to Anne Arundel Community College is the responsibility of the student.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Analyze the anatomy, etiology, and pathology involved in common orthopedic conditions
CO2 - Demonstrate competence with data collection methods for orthopedic conditions within the PT plan of care
CO3 - Demonstrate safety and competence with interventions for orthopedic conditions within the PT plan of care
CO4 - Model effective communication relating to orthopedic care with patients, caregivers, and members of the health care team.
CO5 - Demmonstrate competence with documentation relating to essential orthopedic elements
CO6 - Identify the significance of common orthopedic special tests performed by the physical therapist.
CO7 - Demonstrate proficiency with computer skills during written and oral presentations
CO8 - Demonstrate proficiency with using evidence-based research during written and oral presentations
CO9 - Integrate diversity and cultural awareness when treating patients with orthopedic conditions
CO10-Prepare for the NPTE by taking a full-length, comprehensive, practice PTA exam which analyzes student performance in all NPTE content areas.Course Fee: $100
