SPA-2010 - Intermediate Spanish I* (H, C) (3) Prerequisite: SPA-1020 or three years of high school Spanish
SPA-1020 completed with a minimum grade of “C” or three years of high school Spanish. (High school classes must have at least a grade of B and have been taken within the past 3 years, or a proficiency test will be required.)
This course is the first half of the intermediate level sequence in Spanish. Students review and deepen their abilities to communicate in the Spanish language and cultural competence. This course is designed to develop a Spanish language proficiency in speaking, writing, reading, and listening at the intermediate level according to the ACTFL. The class is conducted primarily in Spanish. This course satisfies the General Education Humanities requirement and the Core Competency for Cultural and Global Awareness.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Construct short compositions using basic vocabulary and more complex sentence-level structures
CO2 - Identify information in simple texts and sentence-length speech on familiar topics.
CO3 - Communicate in Spanish when talking about familiar topics related to daily life using sentence-level language.
CO4 - Analyze aspects and traditions of the Spanish Speaking world.
