ITS-2300 - Introduction to Project Management* (3)


Co-requisite: ITS-1010   or ITS-1055   or BAD-1335  

This course has been recommended by business leaders all over Southern Maryland.  Students will be introduced to the concept of project management and will investigate key elements of the project management framework.  Specific knowledge in several of the project management knowledge areas such as project scope, project time, project cost and project quality management will be covered.  Students will sample several popular project management software packages in order to compare their features.

CO1 - Employ the four phases of the project management cycle in a business environment.

CO2 - Identify work settings in which project management is applicable.

CO3 - Select appropriate tools, traditional and software, applicable to project management.

CO4 - Identify skills and certifications applicable to project management.

CO5 - Describe the goals and value-added aspects of project management within information technology.

CO6 - List key deliverables marked by the completion of each project phase.

CO7 - Analyze the project management knowledge areas.

CO8 - Apply the project management and systems analysis life cycles to business situations.
