DFT-1325 - Introduction to Computer-Aided Drafting* (3) Co-requisite: DFT-1200
This is an introductory course in computer-aided drafting. Students will practice 2D drafting concepts and techniques using AutoCAD drawing software. Topics include basic 2D object construction, polylines, techniques for editing objects, object properties, using layers, creating orthographic views in multiview drawings, dimensioning and notes, plotting scaled drawings, and creating section views. Students who have passed a current AutoCAD Certified User exam (within the past 3 years) may apply for Credit by Certification Evaluation for this course. Students may initiate this request by meeting with an advisor.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Create two dimensional parts views using the AutoCAD interface and basic commands.
CO2 - Complete two-dimensional orthographic drawings using geometric construction and editing tools inside AutoCAD. Drawings will include layers, dimensions and notes.
CO3 - Apply parametric constraints on two-dimensional drawings, and edit to demonstrate their functional use.
CO4 - Create templated drawings in AutoCAD to include section and auxiliary views, as well as assembly drawings with bill of materials.
